The CBI, in its chargesheet, has alleged criminal conspiracy. The chargesheet was filed in the illegal mining case before a special judge in Bangalore. The CBI chargesheet names former chief minister of Karnataka Yeddyurappa, his sons - BY Vijayendra and BY Raghavendra, son-in-law - RN Sohan Kumar and Prerana Educational and Social Trust.
Besides JSW Steel who will be represented in the court by Sajjan Jindal, the chargesheet lists companies like Southwest Mining, JSW Steel Limited, Real Tech Solution Pvt Ltd, Jai Bharat Technical Services Pvt Ltd and Industrial Techno Manpower along with all the senior and chief executives of these companies. The chargesheet alleges violation of Section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code paired with Sections 109, 420, 468 and 471.
According to the CBI chargesheet, the accused hatched a conspiracy in Bangalore during 2006-2011. The CBI alleges that a tract of land which had been notified for acquisition was, after purchased by the relatives of Yeddyurappa, denotified and sold for Rs 20 crore.
The chargesheet adds that the money was transferred to the trust run by Yeddyrappa's brother and an amount of Rs 6 crore was transferred to another trust owned by the same family.
