Out of the 500 beds, 20 per cent would be made available free of cost to poor patients, 20 percent to the state employees at Central Government Health Scheme rate and the rest 60 percent as per commercial norms. The project is expected to be completed within three years, it said.
"This alliance is unique as it is the first time that the state has invited a private entity to set up a medical college. We looking forward to more such collaborations as we are on an aggressive expansion mode," Kohinoor Hospital Vice- President Rajeev Boudhankar said.
The Kohinoor group, which has a significant presence in fields like education, hospitality, real estate and power entered the health industry with the launch of a multi- speciality 175-bed Kohinoor Hospital in Mumbai.
"By 2020, Kohinoor Hospital aims to infuse an additional Rs 500 crore to build multi speciality self-sustained hospitals across the country," he added. As per the agreement, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Chhattisgarh has agreed to provide 25 acres of land for the development of medical college and hospital.
The medical college will admit 100 students per year, of which 50 per cent will be through the government quota.
