Into 2011 there were two complaints that were filed against Bharti Airtel following which MCA decided to order an inspection under 209A of the companies act. Following it two top officers were appointed by the regional directorate of Noida and now they have submitted the report. There have been several allegations and the company has refuted all of them.
Telcos to focus on profit; price change certain
Some of the key allegations are in terms of the way Bharti Airtel went about their political funding during the FY2008 and FY2010. Some of the investigation officers feel that the company may have donated for political purposes indirectly through their own company owned trusts.
The report also say that Bharti Airtel did not disclose the name of the political party when the notice was send, which has breached a section of the Companies Act.
The investigation officers also raised objections to the way in which related party transaction happened. They feel that for such transactions the central government approval should have been taken something the company did not do.
There are many other allegations but the company feels that it has not done anything wrong.
