At the Think India Forum Narendra Modi after focusing on need for more governance than government discussed several issues like privatisation of public sector, labour reform, FDI in defense.

At the Think India Forum Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi after focusing on need for more governance than government discussed several issues like privatisation of public sector, labour reform, foreign direct investment in defense sector and government interference in agriculture with Network18 founder and managing director Raghav Bahl.

Below are the key takeaways:  

On Centre-State relations: A change is possible but before that states need to be economically empowered.
On privatisation of public sectors: Principally agree with NDA's resolution of privatising public sector companies. 
On labour reforms agenda: Cannot have one rule to address various labour issues. One way was to bring labour laws under concurrent list.
On Land acquisition reforms: The Supreme Court has said the Gujarat model should be noted.  Totally against coercive means to acquire land. Most important change is to implement Sarkaria commission report on centre-state relationship.
On BJP's policy on FDI in Defence: The party has never opposed FDI. Gujarat is moving towards a policy involving defense equipment manufacturing. "We have the capacity to export defence equipment."
On agriculture decontrol:  Need to protect farmers.
On reforms: Everything is not reform. Plans to empty the treasury or correcting past mistakes is not reforms
