Balakrishnan said he joined the party online and rubbished rumours of him contesting against Nandan Nilekani in the upcoming elections.

"There is too much of imagination going around. It is too early to talk about all that. I just joined them online as a member of the party. I got a mail from Prithvi Reddy who is part of AAP. I will meet him then figure out what kind of a role I can play in the party," he said.
Asked about his views on Nilekani's participation in the mainstream politics, Balakrishnan said: "Ultimately we all want people who have got clean track record, who are against corruption to participate in the electoral process and become MPs or MLAs. Nandan is my ex-colleague; I have a lot of respect for him. We need candidates like him to come to power. That is why when I met him I told him if he really stands for elections I will canvas for him. So, there is no conflict. Ultimately AAP also wants clean candidates with good track record to come to power."
Meera Sanyal feels AAP has done a lot of homework, certainly for Delhi. She thinks what the party is now putting in place is a national economic manifesto.
"They have a lot of good people round the table, some very fine minds, people from corporate world, from finance, from IT, sitting around the table and debating this issue. This I can tell you as a banker, diversity of opinion is good. If you want the right outcomes, have the right process, have the right people involved and you will have the right answers," she said.
