Iraq Crisis: Militants gain ground; US may deploy soldiers

Iraq crisis has widened further. Militants from the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, took control of another town on Monday.

The United States has decided to deploy several hundred armed troops in and around Iraq. United States' President Barack Obama discussed the crisis with national security team on Monday night. He notified US Congress that up to 275 troops could be sent to Iraq to provide support and security for personnel and the US embassy in Baghdad.

Meanwhile, Iraq crisis has widened further. Militants from the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, took control of another town on Monday. 

Iraq's army officials have also reported fighting south of the capital city. Also Iraq's biggest oil refinery, Baiji, has been shut down and its foreign staff has been evacuated.
