June CPI inflation at 29-month low of 7.31%

The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation for the month of June came in at 7.31 percent, much lower compared to 8.28 percent in the previous month. A CNBC-TV18 poll of economists had expected the CPI to come in at 7.45 percent.

The June consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation came in at a 29-month low of 7.31 percent, compared to 8.28 percent in the previous month, helped mainly by a moderation in food prices. A CNBC-TV18 poll of economists had expected the CPI to come in at 7.45 percent.

June core CPI inflation stood at 7.3 percent versus 7.74 percent (month-on-month).

Food inflation for June came in at 7.90 percent, much lower than 9.56 percent seen in previous month. The vegetable price inflation came in at 8.73 percent versus 15.27 percent (MoM).
