Excerpts from the interview.
Q: How optimistic are you on the Indian economy?
A: I am quite bullish on India. India has had a hard time to get its fair share of the world economy in the past 5-10 years but I see something new coming out of India.
In addition to the global economic recovery from 2008-2009, you now have a prime minister who is able to state a vision and create a following and I think that boards well for India in the future.
Q: You also end your report with a question. You say: "Do you believe that India can make the next leap or not?" Do you truly believe that on the back of what you are hearing at this point in time from investors and they are cautiously optimistic about the India story because a lot of the slogans have been made in the past as well but due you believe that India is really poised to make the next leap?
A: I am optimistic and I do believe but there are caveats and the main caveat is the speed and the pace in which some of the public policy activities and investments in infrastructure and other areas are going to be made.
So, I believe investors are optimistic and I believe that they will wait but if nothing gets meaningfully implemented or invested in the next 12-18 months then most bets might be off.
