Sharmila Joshi of sharmilajoshi.com told CNBC-TV18, "Among the oil and gas space to be invested in a company which is on the exploration side, to my mind makes much better sense that to be invested in a marketing company given the way things change in terms of regulations etc."

"A lot of positive changes have happened for oil and gas as a sector in terms of the subsidies and going away etc. So this is in fact a very good space that this entire sector has entered into and a lot of clarity is slowly coming about. So on Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC ) I would give a target of Rs 300-350 in the longer run and I would really advise to stay invested."

The share touched its 52-week high Rs 354.10 and 52-week low Rs 234.40 on 18 January, 2013 and 28 August, 2013, respectively.
